Cleaning the espresso machine is directly associated with the quality of coffee your business serves, which is closely related to its success and its ability to attract customers.
At the same time, it is also related to the excellent hygiene of the beverages you serve, as well as the longevity of the machine. With regular cleaning of the professional espresso machine, not only will the coffee release all its aromas, but the machine will also be able to operate better and more efficiently on a daily basis and over the long term.
Κεφαλή του group: Εδώ θα μείνουν πολλά έλαια από τον καφέ και σωματίδια κατά τη διάρκεια της ημέρας, οπότε είναι απαραίτητο να την καθαρίζετε καλά. To do this, you must first remove the portafilters and then place about a teaspoon of espresso machine cleaner (such as Coffee Clean) into the blind filter. Lock it into the group head and start the water flow by pressing the brew button, allowing the detergent to circulate through the internal tubing and clean out any remaining residues.
If your machine has an automatic cleaning cycle, you can use that instead, without manually pressing the button every 5 seconds, for approximately 1 minute. Then, brush the group head with a special cleaning brush to remove any remaining particles.
After reinstalling them on the machine, you should activate the water flow and keep it running for a few seconds to thoroughly rinse out any cleaning product and its smell.
Portafilters: After removing them, you can wash them using the special cleaning powder (such as Coffee Clean) in a bowl or sink with hot water. It is recommended to let them soak for 10–15 minutes. However, you should be careful not to submerge the plastic handles in water for an extended period, as they may become damaged over time. Then, rinse thoroughly.
Steam wand: Cleaning it is very important, as milk buildup can cause damage and affect the taste of the coffee. If there is burnt milk on the steam wand, clean it with a damp cloth. You can also activate the steam for a few seconds before dipping it into the milk to ensure no water residue remains in the wand.
Weekly machine cleaning: On a weekly basis, it is a good idea to clean the areas where the portafilters lock in and from which the coffee flows, as cleaning the portafilters alone is not enough. Simply unscrew them and soak them in hot water with espresso machine cleaner for 10–15 minutes. Wipe them thoroughly after cleaning and screw them back into place. You should also clean the water outlet of your portafilter’s group head, which includes a mesh screen that can accumulate limescale. To do this, you need to remove the screw that holds it to the machine body and then wash it thoroughly with plenty of water and the special cleaning powder. Then, let it dry overnight before reinstalling it in the machine.
Exterior of the machine: We also clean the outside of our machine. Using a microfiber cloth dampened with a little water or some unscented glass cleaner, wipe down the exterior of the machine so that it shines and looks like new.
Take care of your machine so it can take care of you in return. By maintaining and cleaning our machine, we will keep it in excellent working condition for many years while also enjoying the best possible coffee!
